Welcome to the new studio - and the new blog!

Happy New Year! I'm so happy you're here! As a season of fresh beginnings arrives, I am starting a brand-new blog in my brand-new studio location in this brand-new year. This blog will be a place to find helpful information about sessions, a place for me to share the sweet faces that come through my doors, and even my favorite baby and new-parent product recommendations after years of working with new babies.

I want to start off this new blog with a post about my new studio location. When I first started professional newborn photography back in 2014, my own kids were still just babies and were at home with me all day. I started out with just a few backdrops and props and worked out of my living room, using my sliding glass door for natural light. Fast forward to the fall of 2022, when I signed the lease for this bright and spacious new studio space - a big upgrade from previous studio locations for sure! The studio has 10' ceilings and has just under 1,000 square feet of space, divided into a large main shooting room, a very roomy private bathroom, and a storage room in the back for my now extensive prop and backdrop collection. The main room has two dedicated shooting spaces (and I can add a third for holiday minis) so I can have all the sets ready to go when my clients arrive for their sessions. The San Marcos location is easy to find and is conveniently located in a shopping center with two restaurants and a 7/11 store. With a front entrance located in a private gated courtyard, my families enjoy privacy and peace even though the shopping center is bustling. Inside the studio, my families enjoy comfy lounge seating where they can watch my 72" LED TV, or simply have a great view of their baby's session while they sit back and relax. I have some baby toys available for busy little hands, and there is also a park nearby if any older siblings need some playtime while I finish baby's session at the studio. I had a custom-built coffee bar and snack station installed with a mini fridge and a microwave, I love having snacks, drinks and hot coffee available. The bathroom is stocked with baby care and new mom essentials with a baby changing table. I had a tankless water heater and special faucet installed just so I can fill the tub for cake smash sessions faster and easier. I also had a custom light wall installed, for those dreamy back-lit family poses. I have all my headbands and accessories displayed next to my newborn posing table so families can look through them and choose some favorites for their baby's portraits. We also use the 72" TV for viewing and selecting images and artwork after each session.

I am loving my new studio location so much, I hope you will love it too! I look forward to seeing all the new and returning families in my new studio and will be sharing some sessions with you here on the blog. I am excited about what 2023 will bring!
